Business apps that hold up when you change them.
Describe your business in plain words, and izzedo base builds the app you keep your stock, orders, customers or jobs in. Every change is checked before it is kept, any change can be undone with its data, and nothing is recorded until a person accepts it.
Free and open source. In testing before its first public release.

How it works
There are no screens to design and no code to read. The app is the conversation, and a card appears whenever something is about to be recorded.
- Describe
- Tell the builder what the business keeps track of and how it works: "We sell coffee and tea from two warehouses. Customers pay within 30 days." It answers with a proposal and worked examples, and you confirm the ones that are right.
- Check
- The builder writes the app as ordinary code: the records, rules, roles, reports, printed documents and tests. A change is kept only if the code loads, every test passes and every example you confirmed has a passing test. Otherwise everything goes back as it was.
- Use
- Staff open the app in a browser and write what happened: "Moved 100 bags of coffee from main to city." They read the card and press Record it. Questions work the same way: "Who has owed us money for more than 30 days?"
- Change
- Ask for a change the same way, whenever the business changes. Any change can be undone, and undo takes the data back to that moment too, so plan undos for a quiet hour.
A day with it
An example company that sells coffee and tea from a main warehouse and a city warehouse.
- 07:00
- A scheduled check finds that Alpha Ltd has not paid a sale from 3 September. A task appears in the Finance list: "Alpha Ltd is 41 days overdue".
- 08:15
- Emma in Finance opens her browser. Above her tasks sits a standing question, "Who has owed us money for more than 30 days?" One click gives her a fresh table.
- 09:30
- Emma writes "Bought 500 bags of coffee from Gamma at 10.20, delivered to main." The app finds Gamma and the coffee, shows a card with the total, and records the purchase when she presses Record it.
- 10:05
- Tom in the warehouse writes "Moved 100 bags of coffee from main to city." Card, Record it, done. When he tries to record a sale, the app tells him that his role can't, and that Finance can.
- 16:30
- The owner asks for this month's sales and exports the table to Excel. Then, in a builder task: "Add a note field on customers for delivery instructions." A proposal, a worked example, accepted. A minute later: "Change kept. 18 checks pass."
- 02:00
- The nightly backup copies the app and its data to a USB drive.
What usually goes wrong, and what izzedo base does
The trouble with AI-built apps and shared spreadsheets shows up after weeks of use, not in the first ten minutes.
- A fix breaks something that used to work
- Every change runs the tests written from the examples you confirmed. A change that fails them is not kept.
- An update wipes or mangles data
- The app and its data are copied before every change, and undo brings both back. A change that would delete recorded data is refused unless the proposal you accepted said so.
- The AI writes a wrong record
- It cannot record anything on its own. Every write waits for a person to accept a card built from the data, and quantities and amounts must appear in what the person wrote.
- Nobody knows who changed a number
- The activity log ties every record to the person and the sentence behind it.
- Three copies of the same spreadsheet
- One app and one database. Staff reach the same copy through a link on the office network.
- The tool raises its prices or shuts down
- The code is open source and the data is one database file in a folder you own. Reports export to CSV, Excel and PDF.
Made for
- Small trading, service and production companies that keep stock and orders, customers and follow-ups, jobs, equipment or rentals.
- Teams that run this on spreadsheets, Access or FileMaker today, or on an app that no longer fits how they work.
- People whose AI-built app breaks a little more with every fix.
Not made for
- Public websites, online shops and customer portals.
- Apps that need screens designed to look a certain way.
- A screen on top of a database you already run.
What stays free
izzedo base is open source under the Apache-2.0 licence. These will never move behind a paid plan.
- Any number of users and roles, with no price per seat.
- The activity log.
- Sharing the app with staff on your network.
- Exports to CSV, Excel and PDF.
- No limit on how many records you keep.
You bring your own AI key and pay the provider directly. For people who would rather not set one up, an optional paid izzedo AI plan will come later.
Guides
Help with choosing software for the records a small business keeps.
- Airtable alternatives for small business
Small businesses leave Airtable over the price per seat, the record limits, or worry about where it is heading. The alternatives, sorted by which of those is your reason.
- Base44 alternatives for inventory, CRM and other business apps
Base44 is quick to start. For an app your staff use every day, the trouble shows up later. Here is where to go next, depending on why you are leaving.
- Inventory software for small business: what to use, and when a spreadsheet is still enough
Most small businesses outgrow the stock spreadsheet in the same way. When a spreadsheet is still enough, what each kind of inventory software is good at, and what it costs.
- Lovable alternatives for internal tools and business apps
Lovable is made for launching web apps fast. If what you built is a tool your staff work in every day, here is where to go next, and why.
- Microsoft Access alternatives for small businesses
Access still works, and staying can be the right call. When several people need it at once, or only one person understands it, these are the options worth a look.
Questions
- What does izzedo base cost?
- Nothing. It is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 licence. You pay your AI provider for what the models use, or nothing for a model you run on your own network. A sentence from staff on a small, fast model costs a fraction of a cent. Building costs more and depends on the size of the app.
- Where is my data?
- In one folder on the computer that runs izzedo base, with the app's code and one database file. What the AI needs to answer goes to the AI provider you choose. Your records never go to izzedo. The app sends anonymous usage statistics, such as its version and system, unless an admin switches them off.
- Which AI does it use?
- The one you pick: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter, Fireworks, or a model on your own network through Ollama. Building has been tested most with Anthropic's Claude models.
- Can staff use it from home?
- Yes, through Tailscale or another VPN. With Tailscale on both computers, the app shows a link that works wherever they are. Don't open the app to the open internet.
- Can I see the code?
- Yes. The builder writes ordinary TypeScript into your workspace folder. You never need to open it, but any developer can read it. izzedo base's own code goes to GitHub with the first public release.
- Does it work in my language?
- The screens are in English. izzedo answers each person in the language they choose, including German, French, Italian, Spanish, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian. Printed documents use whatever language your templates use.
Test izzedo base before it is public.
Before the first public release, we want ten people who run a small business to build their own app with it, without our help, and tell us where they got stuck. Write to us with what you keep track of today, and we will send you the test build.
